Cruise Ships and Other Things

Yesterday we went on a walkie near the ocean and I met a gorgeous Schnauzer girl with curly hair!  That's her up ahead... She was obviously taken with me as well because she kept looking back at me...  I'm pretty sure that's an indication of true love!

Here I am posing in front of the Breakwater - we went there a few weeks ago so we decided to go a different route yesterday.

I got to see (and pose in front of) all the ships that were docked there.

Hey!  What are you looking at?  Just move along... I'm on a photoshoot here!

Here I am in from of the Grand Princess cruise ship.  It was HUGE!

It looks like it goes on FOREVER!

On our way back to the car, we decided to take a nice break and veg out for a few minutes.

And we saw another heron!

Mom saw an otter as well but he was running so she couldn't get his picture!

Hope your weekend was just as much fun as mine!

A Really Happy Dog!

On Sunday, the day after my birthday, mom and I went to Holland Point.  As you can see it was a nice warm, sunny day!

Peoples were out sailing...

and I was sniffing for all the weird sniffs from the ocean.

Mom had me climb this big rock and told me to sit down for a picture.

After awhile I got tired of all the click, click, clicks from the flashy beast and told mom just how I felt!

Luckily, she got the message and we moved on... to another photo op!

While we were wandering around, a man and his wife saw me and the wife said, "there's a happy dog!"

And then the man said, "Yes, he's a REALLY happy dog!"

I hope you are as happy as I am wherever you live!
Even if you have to suffer through the photo sessions...

My Birthday Hike!

Mom and I woke up early on my Birthday and set off to the forest, otherwise known as Francis/King Park.

We've been to this park before but have only been on the easy, boardwalk trail.

This time we decided to be adventurous and cross the street to the real hiking trails.

It was like we entered our own little world, we heard no one...  Mom was worried about cougars jumping out and eating us but I just told her to move her butt!

I am King of the Forest!  Hear me bark!

Moss was growing everywheres!

Mom had to take a break so I took one too!

Every time we went down a hill, Mom said 'don't forget we'll have to climb back up that!'

I'm pretty sure a bear went through this part...

These trees are awfully big!

and they go right up to the sky!

The day was nice and sunny but you wouldn't really know it in the forest.

When we got home we were tuckered out and napped and then napped some more!

We'll certainly go back again to take some of the other trails and see if we can find any creatures lurking behind trees!

I Am Eleven!

Mom and I are celebrating my 11th birthday this weekend with lots of adventuring!

We might see some peacocks...

maybe some ducks...

SQUIRREL!

and maybe a heron or two...

We'll be sure to take tons of photos and show them to you next week!

Happy Birthdays to me!  I get ALL the treats!

Ducks!

Well, here we are on another adventure!  Mom said there'd be ducks at this park.

I looked to the left...

I looked in front...

I looked to the right.

NO DUCKS!

I think my mom lied to me!

A Nice Gift

One of Mom's nephews made a headstone / memorial plaque for Sam.

We put it in the garden, surrounded by our toughest gnomes.

I think Sam would approve, don't you?

Mother's Day

I woke up on Mother's Day bright and early to compile my list for my mom...

1.  Go for Walkies
2. Get a chewy
3.  Get treats all day long
4.  Have naps
5.  Go for more Walkies
6. Sit in the sunshines

Imagine my surprise when mom told me that it's a day for me to do and give stuff to her not things that I want to do!

Better mark that down on my calendar for next year.

Happy belated Mother's Day!

Life After Sam

As sad as it is that Sam is no longer with us, mom and I made a pact that we wouldn't sit at home wishing Sam was back with us.  Every work day, we go on at least 4 walkies!  Two before mom leaves and then one when she gets home and the last one right before our bed time.

On the weekends, we go out on adventures and we thought we would share some of our photos.

Here I am in front of a totem pole at the Aboriginal Friendship Centre just down the street from us.

This is the Ogden Point Breakwater.  Mom's been there before but it was my first time and I loved it!

Of course, it didn't hurt that most everyone stopped to say how cute I am!

At the end, in front of the lighthouse.

An afternoon walkie on the Galloping Goose Trail

At Cy Hampson Park where I can go off leash!  Mom wasn't sure how I'd do and if I went to far ahead, she'd yell my name and I'd run right back to her!

I got to meet lots of other doggies that were off leash as well.

Then in Sidney, mom and I snuck into a hotel!  I wanted to jump up on the ottoman but mom said no.

Another walkie at Cy Hampson.

Mom says we will go back here lots in the summer because it's a good place for us to veg out and watch the world go by...

Then on Sunday, we went to Beacon Hill Park where all the flowers are blooming and the ducks and geese are swimming in the ponds.

Look at all those lily pads!

It's hard to notice all those purty flowers with my handsome self in the picture but trust me... they are there!

So as you can see both mom and I are adjusting to life after Sam by keeping busy and going on lots of adventures!

Thank you for all your well wishes on losing our buddy.
